Cochise   CD CGC/TDI WAC

Cochise.  The name means “firewood” in Apache.  Cochise was named after the great chief who was accused wrongly of bad behavior (stealing a white child) who fought back for his pride and honor with every ounce of spirit and honesty anyone could possess.  My Cochise possesses this same spirit of honor, pride and honesty.   He, like the great chief, has overcome adversity.
Who would believe that a little over a year ago, February 6, Cochise came into my life as a half-starved Doberman rescue!  In this short span of time many people have inspired us and led us on towards his first obedience title.  I wish to thank them all formally, for every person has influenced and taught me very generously; from his initial rescuers, Janie and Lynette, you know how much I love him, thanks for your TLC; to Illinois Doberman Rescue, without whom he also wouldn’t be in my life, my friends.
Cochise’s first leg in obedience is dedicated to the memory of a Cook county Sheriff’s department trainer, Gene Sacco, who is no longer with us.  his spirit has helped us continue.  Under his care I learned obedience through the heart.  I will never forget you; you will always ‘stay close’ in my heart.
His second leg honors all my friends at B.C. Dog Training, instructors, friends in daycare and clients.  you are always there for us through the ups and downs; the camaraderie and support you give are deeply appreciated and a true reflection of what a “Club” is and should be.
Lastly, Cochise’s third leg and CD title honor Cathie Sabin:  friend, trainer and listener who is always there for you.  through her instruction she allows self-discovery, knowing this is the means to promote freedom of exploration and deeper learning experiences.  This is how a good mother is with her children, letting the rope out just enough....so on this Mother’s Day 2003 when Cochise attained his CD, we owe our thanks to you.  You convinced me to foster Cochise initially...I know you knew what would follow and I am eternally grateful.
